The Pre-School

The Pre-School caters for children aged 3-5 years. We follow a broad play based Foundation Stage Curriculum that allows your child to progress at his or her own pace, It supports development of communication skills, co-operation and collaboration with others to give them confidence to participate in the environment and the many activities on offer.

We provide a secure and structured environment with effective adult support which allows children to explore and investigate freely and safely. We understand that play is what a child enjoys. A child's play has a purpose and can be a step towards the learning and understanding of valuable skills. It can help a child fit into the world physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially, and grow to be a healthy and competent individual.

The Pre-School will endeavour to provide the children with a stimulating environment, where playing and learning go hand in hand. Play supports all aspects of your child's development. As in the Day Nursery, each child is allocated a Key Worker and regular observations/assessments are carried out during their play. These are recorded in your childs personal file so that each child's development stage is monitored. When your child leaves to enter mainstream school you will receive a progress report of their achievements. We find this is helpful to parents and to your child's reception class teacher.

A varied selection of adult led and child initiated activities will be provided throughout the day, inside and outside, which will promote the 6 areas of learning.
These are;
Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Communication, Language & Literacy
Mathematical Development
Knowledge & Understanding of the World
Physical Development
Creative Development
